Hey guys and gals, just thought I'd check in to let everybody know I'm still here. Sorry I haven't been posting, been sooooo freakin busy lately. I,ve been trying to catch up at work, that's been going kinda slow, as well as working on my truck, my dirt bike, my Dad's old dirt bike, his new dirt bike, and everything else that goes on in my little world.

I have managed to sqeeze in some fun along the way as well. Went to a local car show to see how the '51 Chevy I built did in it's first car show and hopefully get some nice pictures of it. Unforunately, dumba$$ me didn't charge the battery in the camera and I was unable to get any pics. However, there was a light at the end of the tunnel, the car placed in the top ten in show out of 850 cars. Not too shabby. Needless to say, Tim(the owner) was very pleased and finally realized that all the money and time spent was well worth it. He actually carried his plaque with him the following week to show all his friends and customers. Of corse, by the end of the week it was top ten out of 20,000 cars, but who's counting.

When the '51 comes back to get some other parts installed, I'll finally get some finished pictures of it so I can post my handiwork. If any of you guys will be making it to the Lake Havasu show, apparently it will be on display in the feature car section and you can see it first hand. I also plan on trying to remember to take some pics of the other cars I'm working on so you can see the other stuff I do.

I also took some time to go hang out with my Dad at the Goodguys West Coast Hot Rod Happening at the Pomona Fairgrounds a couple weeks ago. I got some good pictures of the show area, but wasn't able to get many of the racing action, most of those were taken by Melanie. You can find them here . My Dad was running the Fiat in the NE3 class so I finally got to see the car run. Normally the drags aren't really my scene, but since I got to wrench on the car I managed to have some fun. Also got to catch up with some people I hadn't seen in a while. The guy I worked for as a helper when I started doing auto body had his car there that he's been building, it's the white and orange rail in the picture gallery.

The car was being a bit difficult to tune, but at least it finally stayed together and didn't eat itself. The last few times they've taken the car out to try and do some test and tune, it either ate the cam or cracked a cylinder. They finally found out that the cam has been getting installed incorrectly and cuased the lifters to ride on the edge of the lobes which in turn made the cam and lifters, as well as the distributor gear, eat each other up. They also got rid of the cooling system and had the block filled to eliminate the cracking cylinder issue. They changed over to the hat injection system and switched to alcohol in an attempt to have a more reliable set-up, but now they have to relearn how the motor want's to be dialed in.

Without the benifit of doing any prior sucsessful test and tune adjustments, they were flying blind with the new set-up and weren't sure where they were at or how the car would run. They missed their first qualifier, ran a 10.30 at the second qualifier, leaned it as far as they could with the jets they had and ran a 10.23 on the last qualifier. Unfortunately, their index is 9.60 and the fast guys in their class were pretty much right on the bubble.

In an act of desperation to at least try to keep from losing in the first round, they went with a little cocktail of 12% nitro with the alcohol. 3/4 track, Dave(the driver) clips the throttle and hits the brakes and still ends up breaking out with a 9.55. DOH!!! Of course, the other guy did run a 9.64, so Dave was basically looking for a couple tenths.

On the brighter side, Dave did get to be the first guy at a Goodguys event to drive three different cars, my Dad's NE3 Fiat, his Dad's NE1 'T' bucket rail, and now he and his dad are running a blown altered Fiat(the yellow Fiat in the picture gallery) with the nitro boys. I think he went the fastest he's ever gone in the altered that weekend, 6.79 and blew the motor about 3/4 track. I can't remember the speed at the lights, but he figures he was around 200mph when the engine went.

Yeah, all in all, a pretty good time, and a good way to kill three days, plus I got to get some pics from the start line.

The other bit of fun i got to have recently is I got to go get some riding in last weekend. Got to take the YZ426 out and see how all the mods I did to it while I was laid up worked. She's a little faster off the bottom and pulls a bit harder now. SWEEEEEEET! I'll have to get some pics of my bike too some day. We also got my dad a new bike to replace his old '83 YZ250. Found him a smokin deal on a Suzuki DRZ400. Since it was his first ride on an unfamilliar bike, and my first ride getting back in the saddle, we kinda took it easy and just cruised around on some trails in Hesperia. Had a lot of fun and got to see where I was at with my healing process, looks like all is healing just fine and hell, I'm ready to go racin.

I keep checkin in to see what's going on and I'll try to get some more posting in, but I still have a lot of catching up to do at the shop, plus I still have to finish restoring my Dad's YZ250 so we can sell it, and I have to do some changes to his new bike for him, oh and I also have to put my new exhaust system in the Suburban, oh and I can't forget to rebuild the front end on the 'Cuda, oh crap, I still have to paint the trim on the house.

Oh well, I'll talk to you guys sooner or later.
